Codes of Practice

CHEM has produced a series of seven Codes of Practice for the safe operation of various types of equipment. These are written and illustrated in clear and concise terms and are intended to alert the operator to the most commonly encountered hazards and difficult situations and how to avoid them. Technical

CHEM plays a major role in the drafting of harmonised European standards for refuse collection vehicles and associated container lifting devices. These standards address, in particular, the safety requirements for machinery laid down in the Supply of Machinery (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 1994.

Co-operation

CHEM maintains close links with the Health and Safety Executive through membership of the HSE Waste Industry Safety and Health (WISH) forum. WISH has representatives from all sectors of the waste industry.
